About

Let us explain.

One fateful day in August of ’09, something steered us towards the Mississippi neighborhood.

We had been looking for a space for months, a dream house, a place people could come to build and create, to make and paint, to sand and buff, to cook and eat and drink and cheer.

We are now eating and drinking, cooking and cheering. We hope that you join us for these things.

Our outdoor beer garden and restaurant is open for business, Wednesday thru Sunday. We have local beer and wine, sake and cider, and wine cocktails. We are an all ages venue, so bring the kids – just keep an eye on them.  We feature $3 microbrew drafts, all day. We have a food cart from which we sell delicious things. We have live music on weekends – our friends and yours. We are also building, painting, buffing and sanding. Soon you will be able to do these things with us.

We are a non-profit communal arts space, dedicated to the communities that bore us, that helped and fed us, that watered us and watched us grow.

By October, all of our dreams will be standing in wood and metal and drywall, in porcelain and glass. A wood shop, a metal shop, a commercial kitchen, a brewery, an indoor stage and event space, a gallery, and fixed term artist studios are in the works. You will be able to use our tools, our space, and the expertise of experienced craftspeople to help build your dreams out of whatever materials you choose. We will make it easy for you to use the skills you have, or to learn the skills you want.

Please come talk to us if you would like to help in any way. This space is by and for volunteers above all.

This property is now called the Water Heater. It has eaten us alive, and we are happily being digested by it. We hope that soon it eats you too.
